What's coming down the pipeline:

The orangutans are on deck!

This beautiful creature is one of the orangutans I met during my research trip this summer, visiting orangutan rehabilitation centers in Sumatra and Borneo. It was all to research the third book in the Great Ape Quartet, which will feature the orangutans. It will be the story of an American boy who grows up with a smuggled pet orangutan, only gradually coming to see his best friend's greater needs. So will begin an adventure to get the orangutan back to his homeland.

Ape Quartet Teacher's Guide

Teachers and educators! Scholastic has put together a terrific classroom/discussion guide to my ape novels. Free for you to use with your students! Here's the link.

Spirit Animals

I'll be writing the 6th book for Scholastic's exciting new series, Spirit Animals. I've had the opportunity to read Brandon Mull's first book and Maggie Stiefvater's second, and am very excited (and nervous!) to follow in their footsteps.

Scope Magazine

I'll have a short fiction piece in the January issue of Scope, a magazine that goes out to Language Arts classrooms around the country.
